Your fair share of the pot, by table size

With N players, an average hand is worth 1/N of the pot. That's the line every hand has to clear:

• 4-handed: fair share is 25% — clear that and you're doing fine
• 8-handed: fair share is 12.5%
• 12-handed: fair share is 8.3%

This is why the same cards are a raise at one table and a fold at another. Nothing about the cards changed; the field they have to beat did.
